Rahm Emanuel, Gery Chico Fight For Latino Voters (VIDEO)

There aren't a lot of demographics where Rahm Emanuel is struggling in the polls.

Overall, he's polling at or near 50 percent city-wide. He appears to be taking a majority of African-American votes, despite the community supposedly having settled on a consensus candidate in Carol Moseley Braun. And he's even leading among female voters.

One demographic where he doesn't have a clear majority is among Latino voters. This is understandable: there are two Latino candidates in the race, including his chief rival, Gery Chico. The latest Tribune poll gives Chico a 38-34 edge over Emanuel in that group.

Never one to back down, Emanuel has made an aggressive push in recent days to earn the support of Spanish-speaking voters. NBC Chicago gives a translation of the robocall that the campaign has been making to Latino households around the city:

Gery Chico finished getting the support of the anti-immigrant party The Chicago Tea Party. This right-wing group fights against President Barack Obama's agenda and supports the Arizona law against immigrants.... The Chicago Tea Party is against amnesty and supports measures that would separate thousands of families.

Please consider Rahm Emanuel for Mayor of Chicago. Rahm Emanuel has always been with President Barack Obama and strongly supports immigration reform. He also supports the Chicago DREAM ACT to give more and better access to education opportunities for immigrants.

But Chico isn't about to roll over, either. He has recently gone up with a Spanish-language ad with Rahm squarely in its sights, narrated by one of the city's most popular and well-liked Latino leaders, U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez.
